Existential Friday: Invasion

There is an invasion coming.

Heed the warnings that whispers on the vines.

Do you see the creeping tendrils approaching ?

There are warnings on the walls before you,

There is time to prepare, …………..

Perhaps.

There is an invasion coming.

Do you see the creeping tendrils approaching ?

Their minions may yet become your masters.

The signs are in front of you as we speak.

There is an invasion coming.

Look at what is beneath you reaching up, spreading out:

There is laughter in the eyes behind the wall.

There is an invasion coming.

Look at what is beneath you reaching up, spreading out:

Beware the pale echoes drawing near.

Prepare for the quiet onslaught from green shadows.

Perhaps it will be enough, perhaps.

Note: This post for Halloween is an example of what I call North Ontario Gothic.  The post originates in a number of influences.  On one level it is a consideration of environmental concerns and the conflict between the natural world and the manufactured environment of the modern technological society that dominates North America,  Europe, and much of Asia and the Pacific rim. This conflict is seen through the lens of an H.P. Lovecraft fantasy narrative. Other influences in the prose poem narrative can be found in aspects of the Canadian experience and Canadian literature, especially the works of Gwendolyn MacEwen. See her poem: Black Pines Under Water.

The  influence on the photographs style & subject matter can be traced to Ashley’s Syncopated Eyeball and Robert’s Refrigerator Magnate.   The 10th image made use of one of Ashley’s wall photos,  which I have used in earlier posts. Happy Halloween to one & all.

    Very “Northern Gothic” and eerie.
We are considering a move further north than you and will have to consider all the aspects, not just the beautiful fall photos you have been posting.

  2. Thank you, Joseph, for the kind mention.

I really like this post! Especially the last image. But the whole post is really interesting. Lots of gorgeous darkness, gorgeous colours and a great sentiment to boot.

Most welcome. My creativity in the visual medium is solely based in photography and use of digital imaging tools. You though extend those skills into hands on media, including traditional darkroom processes. I try to create and emulate your works and take inspiration from Ashley’ unique view of the world. many thanks to both of you for both inspiration & support.
