Secret Drawer

There are many memories

In the secret drawer.

Let your imagination be the key.

Your heart will soar

Over an antique sea,

Past the Huntsman proud

The Minstrel’s song,

Then come to rest

In some garden long forgot.

Steal then a kiss

From the lips

Of sweet Tranquility.

  1. I really want to open that drawer. These are lovely, as are the words.

Yes it is ! My mother’s old Singer sewing machine. Lots of childhood memories. 😀

      • 🙂 I used to have just the set of two drawers without the sewing machine but my great grandmother (who was still alive when I was twelve) had a treadle Singer too.

The workmanship on the wood and metal components is so detailed & beautiful, it puts the high-tech electronica to shame. Somehow they managed to be quality technology & fine art at the same time. This started disappearing in the 1950s and was all but gone by the end of the 60s. I can remember when having televisions & stereos was having wooden furniture . It may not have been compact, but it was elegant & had natural materials/surfaces. No wonder so many young people of become interested in DIY and the Steampunk aesthetic; they long for craftsmanship & an artisan’s sense of style & care. My age is showing 😀
