Fordian Slips: Another Day in Toronto

Ford asks that Rob Ford & his supports stop using their iconic logo.

Argos distance themselves from Ford’s use of inappropriate language.

Mayor Ford still has access to official Toronto logo, ……….sigh.

To Torontonians:     Remember, like kidney stones, this too shall pass, ……… eventually.

  1. “Fordian slips”, that is classic. It certainly is a comedy of errors. It all seems so wrong. Why has he not been arrested for public vulgarity…at the very least.

I have been contemplating a post on my Media literacy blog about Ford for quite some time, but the situation keeps devolving so quickly. From “High” comedy to the depths of tragedy, it appears to be some form of 16th century tragicomedy combined with YouTube Farce. I really have do a post. 🙂
While I can see the grey areas of legality that Ford manages to safely dance in, my question question comes from an education perspective, ‘How has child welfare not stepped in to remove his children from the home ?’ ……… If this had been a family of the ordinary Timmie Public that he pretends to represent, Child Welfare would have been all over them like a bee swarm.

      • So true. His wife and his children would have been in a shelter with a restraining order on him.

  2. Even the news commentators don’t quite know what to say when the latest absurdity surfaces. I love the image of his wife in the collage. Lord, how could she bring herself to appear with that bozo? The whole thing is a sad joke. I hope they’ll eventually go to the premier or whoever the head of state is in Canada and have that guy removed. I wondered about the children too.

Ontario’s (Provincial) Premier , similar to a State Governor, mad an offer that is dependent on Toronto City Council . Everyone is trying not to create a political precedent that could undermine municipal democracy & municipal government’s independence. The solution, as of Friday, has been to strip Mayor Ford of as much power as possible. A further motion will take place on Monday. In effect, he becomes a mayor in name only. They can not make him go or shut up, but they can make him powerless.
He may try to challenge this in court, but his public & private behaviour makes it unlikely that the court will give him any support in the manner. After his outrageous language/statements on Thursday he has lost public support from even his strongest followers. The Toronto Sun (newspaper) which supported his tax policies had a Saturday headline, ‘Stuperman Loses His Powers’. This has been Canada’s saddest political farces.
Like a bizarre soap opera serial, we all become addicted to wondering what happens next, unable to turn our eyes away, dreading a terrible sad end to this human comedy.
