Yellow truck Variations

Yellow Truck Variation 1

Yellow Truck Variation 2

While taking a pit stop on a recent trip to Sudbury, I photographed a yellow truck parked in front of a motel. The motel had suffered fire damage and was undergoing reconstruction.  I  modified the composition using a variety of layers and effects and produced these three variations. The first one emphasizes a line drawing style with modified saturation. The second is more photographic in tone and detail, but has an  aged yellowed tonal-cast . The final image blends the two, sharing a mix of features, retaining some of the natural colour and photographic details.

It’s interesting that the first is the only one to have detail in the left white area while the second shows the detail in the foreground best. I prefer the first with it’s drawing style but find the three make for good comparisons with the different processing. Thanks for the post that made me stop and look closer.

Processing comparisons really help bring out different details. Glad you enjoyed.

  3. An interesting series. Thanks for sharing. I can;t make up my mind if I particularly like one over the others, they all have subtly different meanings. The yellow is so striking in No 1. Tony

Thanks very much. Your observation about subtle differences in meaning is very apt. The codes & conventions of mass media deal with conveying information. Altering theses codes alters the message/meaning. 🙂

  5. It is remarkable how you are able to take one picture and have it tell 3 different stories. Each one has its own feel.

Thanks so much. It is all in the shifting of light tones, colour & texture. Anyone of these alters the message conveyed. 🙂
