Textured Text: Tropical Screens- Cyanotype Variations

Tropical Screen1 CyanotypeBL

As mentioned in my last Junk-Mail abstract post,  I used one of the junk-mail abstract compositions as a layer with a shot of tropical plants (taken at  The  F. Jean MacLeod Butterfly Gallery in Sudbury Ontario). As I worked through these, part of the sequence took on the blues/purple tones associated with the cyanotype process. Letters and textures shift  in dominance & intensity as the layers were modified and combined. In some, the rusty oranges are still visible.

The different effects possible never ceases to amaze me and the way some things become more pronounced in one and recede in others. A wonderful image and playtime. Thank you for continuing inspiration.

Thanks very much. The other sequence goes to greens, browns, and tropical orange. Totally different emotional tones.

  3. The second one is my favourite but any one of these would be a wonderful print on a Tommy Bahama shirt.
