I love birch trees.

They are beautiful creatures of air & soil. Unfortunately there is a squishy rot that infects them from time to time. They get sickly and infested with bugs. They either have to be cut down or they weaken and eventually fall. On the same trail there are some of the largest diameter birch trees I’ve ever seen. Yet others have succumbed and either fell naturally or were cleared out for safety concerns.
