Three Amigos

During this Holiday season, our two bearded dragons had a house guest. They were very protective of the little guy.  He was generally very active and comfortable with them.  My big camera  made him slightly more cautious and the big guys kept an eye on things to make sure no harm came his way.

We had a separate place for him, but when Elizabeth put him in with our two they were totally comfortable.

The little one belongs to a young art student that my wife teaches. The girl was so enamoured of our lizards that she convinced her mom to get one. They had to be away for the holidays and we are boarding the little guy. 😀

They were very protective of the little guy while he was visiting. The shot makes me a bit sad now. The other day the biggest of the two died very suddenly and my wife can not figure out why. He was perfectly fine in the morning at feeding time. A short time later when I checked on them he was just collapsed, body still warm. We now have to investigate sudden death of bearded dragons. 😦

      • I don’t know what to say, this is really making me upset and I don’t even know you, your family or your dragons!

I feel sorry that you lost a big part of your lives. If you could keep me informed on your investigation that would be great as I am looking at getting some Bearded Dragons myself, and really don’t want to be disappointed with the same unfortunate event.

My wife suspects that it may be Impaction which happens when the bearded dragon swallows a very small item, or a bunch of small items, that causes a blockage in the digestive tract. She used very fine particulate that is recommended for the dragons – they like to burrow in the hutches. Something must of caused a blockage, but we are not sure what it is.
