My wife said my mask would scare the trick-or-treaters. I am not sure why; my daughter painted it, and it has bright happy colours.

Your daughter made a strangely happy mask. Fear with a smile. Your rendition however is, albeit wonderful, genuinly scary.
The mask being a bit small, appears to push out – increases the unsettling quality of the overall appearance. 😀
